Reflections of Learning in the Library

6/5/2014

Picture
A lot of learning, discussion, exploration and creation was generated in the library this year.

With every grade level, I work to help students discover new books and authors, learn how to access and use online resources, develop information literacy skills and strengthen technology skills.

Now I'd like your feedback! Please leave a comment below to share how you feel about the library AND explain something you learned about in the library this year that you think is important.

April is National Poetry Month and today is Poem in Your Pocket Day. We have already distributed over 200 poems at Brennan Rogers in preparation! Established by the Academy of American Poets, Poem in Your Pocket day is where people of all ages share poetry. Throughout the United States people are encouraged to select a poem, carry it in their pocket and share it with others throughout the day (anywhere! Not just at school).

Check out Twitter's hashtag #pocketpoem to see different ways people are celebrating!  You can also visit the Academy of American Poets website to learn more.

fourth grade book reviewers

There are SO MANY places to find book reviews and we are creating our own! Ms. Rhone's students are in the process of revising their book reviews that will be published on the district OPAC next week.

This collaborative project required students to read a book, summarize it with details and learn how to make a recommendation to a larger audience.

How do you find out about books you might be interested in reading? What information do you look for?
