Kindergarten classes came to the library this week for story time and book exchange and were surprised when their first task was to listen to Bob Marley's classic song, Three Little Birds. Listening to this song was a segway to explore Cedilla Marley's picture book, Every Little Thing.
It was amazing to watch five and six year olds instinctively sway their bodies to the song's rythym and melody. They quickly learned the chorus and sang along.
After discussing the message of the chorus, we accessed the book in eBook format projected on the ENO board. While I read, students took turns coming up front to point out illustrative details that helped with inferring characters' emotions.
