Lower school students unanimously agreed in both The Little Red Hen and Out of the Egg that the hen's decision not to share her bread was a fair decision.
"The Little Red Hen asked for help and they didn't ever help her but they wanted to eat her bread! That is not right or nice! If they helped her plant the seed or grow the wheat or anything then it would be mean for her not to share. I don't think they were being good friends to her."
-- Jeffrey, Grade 2
"She didn't ask them to do all the work -- just really a little bit of work and they were too lazy to help her. If you ask for help and no one helps you it hurts your feelings."
-- Xavier, Grade 1
"That rat and cat and pig were not nice and I think they were greedy.
